If you are looking for fantastic images for your social media posting or online advertisements, blog posts or even landing pages, then this post is for you. Today I am going to share my top FREE places (and one bonus paid place) that we go everyday to find great stock photos.
And to make things even easier, I’ve put this into a video!
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Dr. Adam Arnold and I am the founder and owner of Web Profit Maximizer an online advertising agency in Baulkham Hills here in Sydney. We help businesses get more clients with online advertising so having great images is super important to help us achieve our clients goals.
Unsplash
So lets begin with our first website. This website is called Unsplash. I love this site because it has a huge variety of images and you can download as many as you like. The images are all top quality and you can get some real eye catching images.
Eye catching is super important when you are creating social media posts or in your Facebook ads. It can often be the first reason someone will look closer at your advertisement or your blog post.
I also like this site because there is no limit to the number of images you can download. And remember when you download the image to share some love to the person who created the image.
Here is their licensing terms:
License
All photos published on Unsplash can be used for free. You can use them for commercial and noncommercial purposes. You do not need to ask permission from or provide credit to the photographer or Unsplash, although it is appreciated when possible.
More precisely, Unsplash grants you an irrevocable, nonexclusive copyright license to download, copy, modify, distribute, perform, and use photos from Unsplash for free, including for commercial purposes, without permission from or attributing the photographer or Unsplash. This license does not include the right to compile photos from Unsplash to replicate a similar or competing service.
Pexels
Our next image source is also a great FREE resource for high quality images. This source though does have a limit to the number of images you can download.
A great thing about Pexel is they actually have videos available too. So you can also get some great videos for free!
In case you were wondering about if you can use these images and share them here is what Pexel has to say.
What is the license of the photos on Pexels?
All photos on Pexels are licensed under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This means you can use them for free for any personal and commercial purpose. Attribution is not required. For more information read our license page.
So now you have two great FREE resources for your pictures, but wait I have 2 more to share with you.
Pablo by Buffer
This next one is brilliant if you are posting quotes in social media or if you are posting on pinterest which needs to have a very unique shape. I will be covering how you can size your images and really make them pop out in a blog post / video next week.
Pablo is provided by Buffer, which is a social media tool (I will talk more about tools you can use to automate social media in another post).
So here is what is great about Pablo. You can go here and choose which size you want, you want the image to be. They have great backgrounds and this is perfect for creating quotes real quick.
You can even post straight to your social media account, although our agency prefers to work in batches, so we will download them and then upload them into our social media posting software so we can then choose when they go out and do not have to login to Pablo everyday.
So now you have 3 really cool places to get images and even some videos for FREE.
Adobe Stock
Up next is where we go for paid images. We use Adobe Stock for our paid images. It is a paid tool, we use this when we can’t find an image on Unsplash or Pexel.
And on the subscription plan it is just $4 an image.
Just a word on stock vs real images. If you are in the professional services or a healthcare provider like a dentist or chiropractor, we find it is always better to use real images of you and your team in your posts / advertisements.
It will produce more engagement on your social media posts and your Facebook ads will have a higher click through rate and higher conversions, or at least that has been my experience in running social media and paid advertising over the past 5 years.
So there you go, there are the 4 places our online marketing agency goes to find our images for social media management, our blog posting and the images we use for our clients paid Facebook advertisements.
If you have any questions or need some help with your business, you can visit our website or reach out to me on Facebook.
